The Spring /Summer season has started a little late due to the cold winds still blowing from Eastern Europe. However, when it suddenly starts you can be assured the key trends this season would be" Camouflage".
I was in Paris some weeks back and all the window displays especially at Christian Dior on avenue Montaique were draped with clothes in various camouflage prints.
"Khaki" is also very popular in dark green shades. Black and white is also very strong this summer. Ralph Lauren the American designer started the trend. Think Audrey Hepburn "my fair lady" anything in these optical shades are current. Also in accessories such as shoes, bags and eyewear, GianFranco Ferre the Italian designer featured a whole range in his latest collection which had an African inspiration and was a huge success in Milan at the shows. I visited the GianFranco Ferre boutique on St Angrea,15. The shop window has an African theme with various colours in beautiful fabrics

Skirts in Raffia and tweed textured skirts covered in chiffons, wonderful! Colours in bright hues such as yellows, green and blues are very in.

For men, Blazers are making a strong come back with brass buttons. Popular colours are khaki, caramel, light blues and browns. Amid the usual dark colours, for best effect wear them with opal gold or silver trimmed eyewear.

GianFranco Ferre has launched a new fragrance for men, which I saw at the duty free zone at the malpenza Airport, Milan. As for the name, well I tried calling both Milan and Paris ferre offices but did not much luck but all I Know is that it starts with "P". If you get the info you can always e-mail us.

My next report will be on "trends in Nigeria & Africa.
