I
set up ADEBAYO JONES as my trading name to carry out commissions
for private clients.
I
hold a bachelors Degree in history and sociology. However, fashion
has been my dedication to this field persuaded me to enhance my
skills and natural talent in design, pattern cutting, garment
construction and merchandising at the Central School of Fashion
in 1991.
The
focus of my work is on ladies day, occasion/evening and bridal
wear. Each garment reflects an individuality that endures the
physical wear and seasonal changes in fashion while maintaining
an emphasis on versatility and functional use.
My
designs are influenced by an electric mix of nature, a good eye
for detail, a keen interest in art and particularly travel to
beautiful cities and places. I concentrate on fine, clean, classic
lines while using the most luxurious and luscious fabrics. These
ranges from silks to brocades, velvets, chiffon's organza's, crochets
and damask.
I
have also designed gowns for several winning Miss Nigeria contestants,
including the gown for Linda Chuba for the Miss Africa competition.
I was also voted the second best Nigerian 'Designer in the UK'
competition. Most recently I have dressed some of the finalist
in the Miss Nigeria 2001 Beauty pageant and currently dressing
Miss Universe 2001 Beauty pageant.
I
would describe myself as the alternative wedding dress designer
as I go beyond designing what is easily available in bridal shops.
ADEBAYO JONES works with well-known celebrities from stage, screen
and media including Ms Patti Boulaye Ms. Faith Brown, YSL Supermodel
Ms. Katoucha Curtis, and Ms Emma Linley from Family Affairs, TV
presenter Brenda Emmanus, BBC newscaster Gillian Joseph, Troy
Titus from East East Enders. And single handedly dressed all the
contestants of the Miss England 2000 beauty pageant.
