Obi Ekwenchi

Ekwenchi feels strongly about the role that an artist should play in national development especially in righting the wrong in the society and the whole world in general.
Born on the 30th of May 1959, Ekwenchi who studied Fine and Applied Arts at the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, practises both sculpture and painting with equal proficiency and creative zest.
In his painting, he evokes the nostalgic and erotic while maintaining a palette of earth colours, especially yellow orchre and the surface of his canvas is etched with texture of light and shade. Ekwenchi who has been lecturing at IMT, Enugu since 1988 believes "the glow of light is the key in my painting"
