Born
at the beginning of the Nigerian Civil War in 1967, Onyeama's
best of infant memories was being preoccupied by art, especially
of the pre-school age of 3 when he would always draw on his mother's
classroom blackboard.
The 1992 Architecture graduate from the University of Nigeria,
Nsukka became a full-time studio artist after graduation but still
find time to explore the limits to which elements and philosophies
of art could be brought to bear on creative design.
According to Onyeama, "Painting is a way of dreaming with my
eyes open. I am regularly confronted by apparitions of spiralling
ellipsoids and candle-flies, as my atmosphere is suffused with
floating fluxes and light-seeds parachuting down my mind. Therefore
it comes as no surprise that I see mostly in adjectives, of the
tapesteriods and drizzles that characterise my canvases".
