The
festival was conceived to advance the slave route project initiated
by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation
(UNESCO) to create a cultural heritage to the world.
Delegates made up of blacks from America, Brazil and Jamaica attended
this year's event.
Highlights of this festival included: guided tours of heritage
sites, slave port, slave market, slave relics, monuments and the
point of no return; initiation ceremony including Ethnic Adoption,
name giving and special prayer and traditional service for the
deceased captives and their progenitors.
The
festival was a celebration for all blacks in the world for the
emancipation from slavery and injustice.
