Over
a million people made their way to the city of London for
this year's Notting Hill Carnival.
The biggest open-air road show in Europe came about with
the aim to support, encourage and promote musicians, authors,
writers, artists and practitioners in the arts of Carnival
by providing them with opportunities to perform and to foster
an awareness, understanding and appreciation by the general
public of the arts of Carnival.

This
year's Carnival lived up to its expectations with the pump
and pageantry coupled with the mixture of the diverse range
of cultures on display.
There were notable contributions
from Ghana, Ethiopia, Jamaica, Nigeria, Brazil, Columbia
to mention just a few, which added flavour to the joyful
atmosphere with their rich music and dance.
|
There
was a combination of Costume bands, Steel bands, Soca Bands,
Calypsonians, Soca DJs, African and Caribbean Singers, Jazz
Musicians and Samba Dancers.
The Carnival in its usual manner had women as the main participants
of the road show. They dramatically displayed all the glorious
and brilliant colours of their respective bands, swaying and
gyrating to the various forms of carnival music.
