Glamour @ EMMA 2002

The Ethnic Multicultural Media Awards (EMMA) in recognition of the best of black and Asian talent for the year 2002 came up recently at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London's Park Lane.
The magnificent and colourful award ceremony, which was hosted by "Cutting It" star Angela Griffin, and comedian Sanjeev Bhaskar, had in attendance beauties and celebrities from the movie and music industries.
Presenters included Eamonn Holmes, Linford Christie, Denise Lewis, Audley Harrison, Shiulie Ghosh and "Bend it Like Beckham" stars Parminda Nagra and Juliet Stevenson.
Celebrity guests were in abundance, including singer Samantha Mumba, TV presenter Gaby Roslin, the London Mayor, Ken Livingstone and newly appointed and the first black Secretary to the Treasury, Paul Boateng.
The night climaxed with the EMMA Lifetime Award that was bestowed on famous poet, author, singer, dancer, producer, director, actress, playwright, civil-rights activist, journalist, teacher and mother, Dr. Maya Angelou.
The evening was spiced up by performances from various artistes such as the Lighthouse Family, Mis-Teeq and Umoja from South Africa.
