Gisters Mourns

Jos Riots

We are using this opportunity and medium to mourn and grieve with Nigerians all over the world in response to recent killings in Jos Plateau State, which is estimated to 500 people. It is time to appeal for an end to religious violence which is threatening to tear our country apart!

Plateau State, which used to be one of the most beautiful and peaceful states in Nigeria, has been engulfed in religious violence that as led to the deaths of hundreds of people.

As we all know, Plateau prides it self as the home of tourism since its creation 25 years ago and has lived in peaceful harmony ever since.

We take this to be a national tragedy because such carnage and unnecessary killings of innocent children, men and women is totally unnecessary. This once peaceful city which had Christians, Muslim, Hausa- Fulani tribes used to live together and co existed peacefully.

Families displaced

We hereby appeal to all well meaning Nigerians to pray and come together as one to eliminate this religious violence once and for all to avoid further blood bath which is threatening our existence and purpose in life. This should serve, as a lesson to all that violence only worsens situation and no party is a winner.
Ethnic and religious clashes have increased in Nigeria over the years which is frightening. The question we should ask ourselves is what example is being laid down for future generations? The only response to this is that we are simply saying it is good to kill one another!

My understanding of religion was that it preaches value of life and not destroying it. Our unreserved condolences to people who have lost loved ones, friends, families and most importantly their freedom to exist!

May the Almighty God help us all.
